Clay County, Alabama History – The War of 1812

I ran across a very well-written article about the importance of Clay County, Alabama in the War of 1812.  It is written by a local historian, Captain Don East.  There is information about Andrew Jackson’s treks through the county and Creek Indian settlements in the county.  Very interesting reading for any of you who have property in Clay County or are thinking about it.

  1. robert; Thanks for the kind remarks about my article of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce website concerning the War of 1812 in Clay County. For anyone on your web that wants to obtain more information on Clay County’s Creek Indians and the early white settlers that followed them, they can find the information on the Chamber of commerce web under “Articles written about Clay County” under the history section on how to order my book “A Historical Analysis of the Creek Indian Hillabee Towns.” Thanks again for your remarks. Don C. East.
